What started as a drive to Kilkenny ended up as an afternoon in St Mary’s Church in Gowran. What an amazing site. Built in the late 13th Century, it is believed to have been built on the site of an early monastery, and there is an Ogham Stone on display in the chancel suggesting that people worshiped here over 2000 years ago. This area is steeped in history and the tour is fascinating.
So I took the opportunity to photograph my new creation- this shirt dress is made from original 1970s print cotton, from a large stash that came from an old fabric shop. I love making accessories too, so I added matching belt and headscarf. Matching accessories were very important in the 70s.
Look at the exquisite stone carving on the window frame, it is beautiful. Drop in if you are ever in the area, St Marys is really worth a look.
