Floral Fashion for Vintage Barbie

Vintage Barbie blue floral dress from Dinahs Dolls

Summer florals for Barbie

My exams are over, I’ve shelved my books, and it’s time to share new vintage Barbie fashions with you! The last few months had been very busy and I’m glad the studying is over- for now- leaving me more time to post my new Dinah’s Dolls Originals!

If you follow my blog, you’ll have seen my new vintage silk wiggle dress in my previous post , you can see that Barbie dress here.  But now it’s the turn of this 1950s inspired summer frock.

Vintage Barbie Style

We are back to Mallorca for some location shots at the Marina because it’s such a glamorous spot for a fashion photoshoot! Vintage Barbie enjoys her glamour.

The fabric is a lightweight vintage cotton with a really fresh summery floral print. I’m guessing it’s from the early 60s or so. It handles beautifully, so I knew it would make a fabulous full skirted 1950s Barbie dress.

I adore a halterneck silhouette, isn’t it so elegant? I thought this fabric would be perfect for this summer Barbie dress, and also the print works great too.

The bodice is fitted with darts and fully lined. The blue ribbon trim picks up on the large blue floral pattern on the fabric, and it’s quite a nice detail too. A tiny ribbon bow right at the neck adds some interest too. As regular readers of my blog will know I always try and add in a tiny bow….somewhere!

And of course, my favourite- a tiny buckle for the belt! 1940s and 50s dresses used to feature a lot of matching belts, it’s not done a lot anymore and it’s such a pity.

It just had to be a full circle skirt. It has a nice kick too,  thanks to the frilled petticoat underneath! You can really see the fullness in the photo above.

Till next time,
